Janine Gordon aka Jah Jah is one of the few people that can flip flop from hip hop to some top spots in the international art world. Performing as a cyper in many underground circles, and then into museums, ( Nikolaj Center, The Whitney Museum, Shirin Kunstalle, Palais de Tokyo”, Swiss Institute, Scope Art fair,) to underground New York clubs ( the Stinger, E.O.W, Mindspray, Mental Supreme, Fat Baby’s )and in Brasil ( Urbano, Ebano, Jitanes, Mood, Love,The Pub, Dito e Feito) amongst the many clubs and parties.


Born in Queens, bred in Brooklyn, from Greenpoint to Fort Greene, Faragut, to Berlin to Brasil.  Performing from Brooklyn spots to Paris squats,( La Generale) to classy nightclubs ( le Plan, Le Baron)  from reggae to hip hop to hardcore to rock rap mixing international multicultural sounds with the energy of the streets.

My first cd, “The Art of Hip Hop”  2001 was with Emagine music, and I worked with Chubb Rock and other producers and was released in conjunction with ‘The Whitney Biennial “ 2002 as a gift items and for sale in the store, as well as a performance on opening night. I had defunct producers trying to record the vocals but it was totally unusable and I filed for small claims, leading me on Texas Justice where I won, after rapping on tv about the act of getting ripped off.

   I dipped to Brasil to get my samba on and worked with a bunch of the best Samba/ Hip hop talent in Brasil, Mc Partidero, Bezzerra da Silva, Grand Master Duda, and Jimmy Love my producer and boyfriend

who I was living with in Sao Paulo. We had  a dancehall reggae group , then I was invited to hit the biggest clubs,( packing them) Syanges TV show, the biggest newspapers, and bringing them with me until we broke up.

In 2004,  Back to Brooklyn, NY with some hot 50 tracks mixing portuguese, reggae, samba , psychedelic rock, heavy metal, middle eastern and dirty south beats, appealing to all types of people,

and released  “Take a Lick Take A Bite” in 2005 with U.F.O. on iTunes.

  Presently I work with a talented producer called Quickmix (http://www.myspace.com/quickmix), Richie Hassas, out of Germany who I met thru Mike Heron , Richie Hassass also found him thru the same variants, and was looking for a connection as well, Richie sent Mike 4 discs of beats , then I was always in Berlin because I was having art shows in my German Galerie Volker Diehl

Since in 2005 we met , we have recorded over 120 original songs. We were approached by TVT whom one Richie’s artists were signed,
